Aren't the Meet... Pictures the same from the old edtions? I know the two at the bottom are new are... but the older ones look like the books I remember...
I'm also looking for suggestions of childrens series to do next, have any you'd like to throw out to me?
They're posed the same, but drawn differently-- at least Samantha, I can tell (she was mine. ;) ). The girls I babysit have the new editions, and they're a little more cartoonish (and have those backgrounds, those are new).
I remember when Josefina got introduced (although that was just a passing thing, I wasn't into American Girl at that age). I liked Molly and Felicity best.
I loved my Felicity doll, even though I have no idea why I asked for her, even though I wanted Kirsten. ;) Then I saved up my money for a year to buy Kirsten myself... and bought Addy. XD
Ah! AG! I read all the books.. Have a Felicity doll.. with her riding habit and horse.. plus a Josephina doll and some outfits.. I think I took them out of the boxes once to admire them and then treasured them away forever in my closet.. I also went to the AG Place in chicago when it first opened.. ahh memories
My daughter loves those things! I didnt' realize they went back at all though; I thought these were the first editions.
Children's series to do next? The Great Brain, or Fudge by Judy Blume, would be very welcome! Oh! And Junie B. Jones. (OK those I remember only as a mom but they crack me up).
lol I've only heard of Fudge. I'm 25 and I remember reading those books about 16-17 years ago, when there was only Molly, Kiresten and Samantha. But I'll hunt down some Fudge stuff, heck possibly all of Judy Blume's kid books and work on that. I've been thinking about the Mandie series... but I'm biased, I'm a Mandi.
if you like mandi (mandy in this case) there is a book Julie Andrews wrote under the Name Julie Edwards. It was pretty good, and had a really cute cover. you may try that for your mandy collection. :)
Ah, the nostalgia. I read Kit just last summer (I'm in college) out of curiosity and liked hers quite a lot. Kaya annoys me simply because they changed all the titles. You could do some mystery ones like Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys...I'd love to see some Thoroughbred series, but I don't know how popular they are. Hm, all my kid books are at home and I can't remember...maybe the Garth Williams (I think...Garth someone) illustrations for the Laura Ingalls Wilder books? And more Redwall would be great.
Oh, AG! Goodie! Love these books, and the dolls!! Im going to save the Felicity (my fav <3), Josephina, Samantha, and Nellie ones. And credit if I use, of course.
There's going to be a Samantha movie on WB next month ^_^
aw man. my cousin had molly and samatha and i think kirsten and i was endlessly jealous. but at some point she gave us one of the molly books because molly is my mum's name and it was the one where the girl named emily comes to stay with them from england. and my name is emily. i felt special.
also, some years later i became best friends with a girl who had addy and we spent a lot of time failing to fashion new garments for her out of random scraps of material, and discussing the fact that there should be a "canadian girl" series, too. us being canadians and all. i think we may have even written letters or something to this effect, but i do not believe they ever got sent.
