[identity profile] thespice.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] book_icons

I found this pretty collage of books and objects while doing a Google search.  I don’t have fancy programs, so my icons are usually just found images, sized correctly, and rarely manipulated.  Hopefully I’ll be able to do cooler things down the line, but for now I offer these as bases, etc.xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /

1.

xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /

The rest are some details from the same collage:

2.      3.    4.

One with text, because I *do* love books and robots.  I would have preferred a cleaner, script text (and the colors blurred when the document saved, but I can’t seem to help that.)  Oh, well…

5.

Now, just some random books and stacks photos.  One with a lady and a gent in which I imagine they eventually reach for the same book in the stacks, a prelude to marriage and babies, divorce and a lonely turn in separate retirement homes…

6.    7.    8.

And now for some completely random Google finds…

9.

(Had trouble shrinking that one without losing a lot of definition.)

10.   11.    (ooooh, punk rock version.)

Ist this any clearer?

I used GiFFY to convert it -- a nice freeware tool for us amateur iconmakers. :)

Love the icons 10 and 11. Not taking, but grinning madly at them. I am a librarian myself and love it.

Your comments make me happy... especially the little story about the people in the stacks and the "ooooh, punk rock version" one...
And, oh, yeah, I like your icons!
I may come back and take one later.

I love these

I love both seven and eight! What a lovely contrast, the stark color picture and the romantic b&w one. I took them both and will certainly credit if I use either one. Thanks for sharing!

Hey! I really like these, especially the Lincoln and Library ones... But...

Because many people have slow connections, would you please stick an lj-cut in here, and cut most of your icons? There shouldn't be more than 3 or 4 visible on people's Friends pages.

Did you? I'm sorry, I must've skimmed.

Don't worry about it. But... out of curiousity, what error message where you getting? (I'm a support volunteer. This stuff gets into your blood and makes you do crazy things, like harass people with errors in the name of "helping" them)

*frowns*

I can't reproduce this error. That means it's probably a glitch. Do me a favor, and submit a support request about it? If I'm reading your comment right, there's no way this should be happening.

*giggles* And when it comes through, we'll find out that it was something simple after all. I'll keep an eye on your request so I know how to answer things like this in the future. *wanders off*

Ahuh. I *think* I've found the problem. Rich Text sucks. There's a lot of code in there that wouldn't be in there if you'd updated without it. Try sticking a /xml (but with the angular brackets) at the end of that.

If you want to learn how to add images to your entries without using rich text mode, here's the FAQ.
