If you can clarify any copyright issues, or are qualified to correct me on this, please do so.

I'd like to include a link to a post with people who are known to prosecute over violations of copyright such as we do here. If you can provide a link to statements by authors or illustrators on copyright (either "yes, you can make icons" or "NO!!!!!"), please do so here and I'll edit this post.
