Made some icons for the very first time, and since I have been enjoying the icons made by members in this community I decided to share them here. Pictures are from Sharon Shinn's first three novels of Samaria.

I know these icons aren't particularly complicated, but if any veteran icon creators notice anything in these icons that I could improve, or do differently, I'd welcome the advice!

Icons are always a matter of taste -- you can do whatever you like, and if it pleases you, it's a job well done. ;-)

My own preferences are generally for things to be well focused and framed. For example:



This is your third image, with a sharpening filter applied and a one pixel border added.

But there's absolutely nothing wrong with your original version -- the soft focus adds a magical quality to it that the above variation doesn't capture as well. So anything goes!

All three of your icons are nicely done, and I'm glad you posted them. ;-)

I would say the same thing - sharpen, and add a 1 pixel border - maybe some text and brushes too, if you want to get fancy. :)
