Some related, some... less so. But hey, it's my comm, I can break the rules a tiny bit.

1. Remember, we have that mood theme contest.

2. I'd like to place a request for any Maurice Sendak or Sandra Boynton icons. I love me my picture books.

3. I'm so happy that youse guys are polite and spoiler-free... at least, I haven't seen any evidence otherwise. Hugs and kittens.

4. Okay, now that I'm back on top of things, mostly, a nice list of similar comms would be much appreciated, if anybody has any to mention.

And slightly off-topic....

1. If you'd like to participate in my Harry Potter Character Essay-extravaganza, here it is. Pick a character, choose pro or con, and write away. If you have fanfic or essays of your own to reccommend, from any book, you can do so in the comments here. This way I'm not the only person off-topic, and that's okay.

2. I'm also accepting recommendations for good books for a two-year-old child. A very smart one, but still only two. Um... yeah.

Ideas for the 2-year-old

Jamberry (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0694006513/qid=1122013670/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_sbs_1/103-5863818-5944644?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) is a book that most little kids seem to love.

Another good one might be Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/068983568X/ref=pd_sim_b_4/103-5863818-5944644?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance) It's a wonderful alphabet book.

"More, More, More" Said The Baby is a pretty good one in my opinion.

So would it be okay to post the request exactly as I worded it at [livejournal.com profile] sane_potter? I see you already reminded everyone about the mood theme contest so I guess I don't have to do that. :-)

Put Me in the Zoo and I Can Count 1-2-3 were both well-loved by 2 year olds at the child-care center I worked at.

This may seem like a stupid question, so feel free to ignore teh ignorance of teh me if you want, but....what kind of essay really do you want? Like, for example, Percy is good b/c 'la la la'? Is that what you mean?

B/c if so, I'd love to write one for Seamus, and possibly Dean. :D If that's cool.

Oh, and when I get them written where should I post them, etc?

One of my all-time favorite children's books is Each Peach Pear Plum. Also, Rain by Peter Spier, anything by Jan Brett... Yeah. I could go on forever, I love kid's books.

I agree with the suggestions so far. Especially "Each Peach Pear Plum", it's a great book. I would also suggest:
"I Lost My Bear!" by Jules Fieffer (I think)
"While Mama Has a Little Chat" by Amy Reichert
"Seen Art?" by Jon Scieszka
"Kitten's First Full Moon" by Keven Henkes
"The Little Island" by Margaret Wise Brown
"Someday is Not a Day of the Week" by Denise Brennan-Nelson
Pretty much anything by Eric Carle
"Hello Kitty Hello World!" ill. by Higashi Glaser (trust me, it's cool)
"Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand" by Liz and Jay Scott with help from Alex Scott

Those are all that come to mind at the moment. I study children's literature and work in a book store, so I get to read anything I hear about (which is a lot, since I keep up with what's new and what wins awards and stuff). That's why there are so many. I hope that some of them work for you!

Good books for a two-year old:

The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats (a favorite of mine)
Numbears, by Kathleen Hague Illustrated by Michael Hague (a sidenote about Michael Hague is that he's also a famous Tolkien artist, and you'd never know it from the cute and awesome illustrations for Numbears)
Edmond Went Far Away, by Martin Bax, Illustrated by
Michael Foreman (wonderful, pretty watercolour pictures and very sweet story!)
Harold and the Purple Crayon, by Crockett Johnson

'Each Peach Pear Plum' is an excellent suggestion. Also (maybe really obvious and that's why no-one else has mentioned it) but I seem to recall my cousins absolutely worshipping 'The Gruffalo' when they were quite young, I'm afraid I don't know who wrote it though.
