I don't know if anyone's ever read this, but I made a couple of icons (they're really just bases, no text quite fit) from one of the books I loved in middle school- The Girls by Amy Goldman Koss.

Oh, and the book is about a group of seventh-grade girls- the "popular" group, which I found fascinating, being a little freakish nerd. The whole group is controlled to the death by their ringleader, Candace, who kicks one of the girls out and makes all of the other girls afraid they're going to be next.

The Sparknotes version of The Girls is that it's about a girl who's ostracized from her popular clique at the orders of the clique's leader. Each girl in the clique (there are five) tells her part of the story. It's a very good book; it looks at cliques and popularity in middle school without the constant brand-dropping of the Clique novels (which, incidentally, I love as pure brain candy).
