Date: 2005-11-25 07:03 am (UTC)I did snag 36 though, because I simply love it. The picture has a wonderful variety of color and movement and the quote is fantastic. Really, it's my favorite of the bunch and I'll be using it almost immediately. I'll credit in the keywords when I do. I also enjoy 21, 28 and 30, but I won't be snagging them.

Date: 2005-11-25 11:42 pm (UTC)Can you go into detail on this a bit for me? Is it the fact that the text isn't all "on the same line" as the previous text that makes it appear blocky?
As for slow/fast - I'm still working on that "perfect timing". It appears slow to me as well, but I'm a fast reader. I've had friends come over and test them and the majority prefers it at that speed. *shrug*
I really appreciate your commentary - without knowledge and gentle criticism none of us can grow.

Date: 2005-11-28 08:58 am (UTC)The blocky comment comes from the fact that it's blocks of text that are replaced by other blocks of text, not necessarily a line issue. In 26, the quote is broken up into three pieces of text, with all three being exchanged for the other. If you perhaps tried reducing the size of the text, bring the lines closer together and, instead of having them on the same general lines, had them staggered, it would still be blocks of text, but it wouldn't look blocky. Possibly trying different text alignments could add appeal. (I hope I'm explaining myself well.)
As for the jerky comment, I'll use 26 as an example, again. While for some icons, like the one I snagged (36), the abruptness of the text change is reflective of the tone that's being conveyed in the icon. As for 26, the abrupt changing of text is jarring, and that icon would have been better suited to have either slower/fading animated text or stationary text. It's quite fun to play around with stationary text as well. Also, you can try different effects with the animation, to reduce the jerky look. You can try scrolling across the screen, putting the text in a kind of "ticker tape" area, fading, on-off the icon space motions - things like that.
I know exactly what you mean about timing. That's the hardest part of the animated icons, I think. I really hope this helps and clarifies my previous comment.
