FYI: The USPS has just released new stamps of Favorite Children's Book Animals. The sheet of stamps (which are at the new rate) have classic illustrations from The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, Fox in Socks, Maisy, Wild Thing, Olivia, Frederick from Leo Lionni, and Curious George. The back of the stamps have brief information regarding the publication/author.

They are adorable and were worth the Saturday morning wait at the post office. Bill paying will be a little bit more fun this month!

holy....

i love these. i would love to buy the set and have them framed. i have never collected stamps before, does anyone know how to do that?

i realize this sounds completely dumb (how do you buy stamps?), but i mean how do i go about getting really good quality ones. is it as simple as just going to the post office, or do collectors use a different route?

I recall seeing some "first date of issue" packs at my local post office, and I'd assume that the USPS will do that same thing for the children's picture book animals stamps. Check out a few post offices in your area -- one near you is bound to have some special commemorative package. But, I'm not a stamp collector, so there could be a better way I don't know about.

My husband saw a Muppets collection -- stamps, stationery, and a cute folder -- at our local post office a few months ago, and bought them for me as a surprise. I love that man of mine!
