Dear all,

I fear I may be skirting the rules: Tam Lin was originally not a book, but a ballad. There have, however, been at least two novelized retellings of the story: Tam Lin by Pamela Dean and An Earthly Knight by Janet McNaughton (links lead to my review of each book).

The text for these icons has been taken from the Fairport Convention and the Medieaval Baebes versions of the ballad.

I'm not taking any, but I particularly like the the second animated icon.

Funny that someone named Janet would write a book based on Tam Lin. Also, kudos for the Mediaeval Baebes lyrics; this icon uses their version of "Scarborough Fair."

Read Fire and Hemlock yet? By Diana Wynne Jones. It's not the clearest retelling of the legend, but it works.

There's also a recording of Tam Lin done by a sort of folk rock group called The Tempest that my brother's a fan of--I think there's a preview of it on their website. Nice icons! Not taking any, but glad to see that they exist ;)
