A few icons inspired by re-reading Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis. Take, share, credit is nifty and cool but not required, comments fill my little heart with joy.

Images taken from the book's cover, some ancient Greek parchments and some Maxfield Parrish paintings (Parrish was used for the backgrounds of the "heart dance" icons since the passage in which the line occurs almost forcefully evokes his colorful pastorals).

Oh, I've wished for Til We Have Faces icons - thank you! Taking the base, "I am Ungit", and the last dance one.
If you ever have time, I'd love an icon with part of the quote about "I know now, Lord, why you utter no answer, questions fade before your face." (my paraphrase; I can't remember the exact words)

Hmm, can't seem to remember that one, and I'm re-reading right now. Possibly it's at the very end of the book? It sounds like it would be. I'll see if I notice it on finishing.

I have a copy of it's original printing and the cover is completely different.
I would like to see this cover, as it looks beautiful, but I'll keep the copy I have.
The art is by my favorite illustrating team, Leo and Diane Dillon, who did the artwork for the Across the Wall Series by Garth Nix.

This is the cover of the edition I have, the most recent cover did not really do anything for me. I did a google search for cover art and didn't come up with much else besides this and the newest, but if you have a link to the original art (or have scanner handy and feel like taking the trouble to upload to somewhere) I would very much like to see it!

This is the cover that I have. I've had it since I was a kid, never realizing that it was by these illustrators until I found this page.

Oh yes, I've seen some of their other work! (They did some of my favorite Madeline L'Engle covers.) That's certainly a unique medium for a book cover. I wish I could think of a way to icon it, but I'm afraid it wouldn't look like much but a random stained glass window at that size...
