20 Wayside School quote icons

Hey everybody!

Something inspired me recently to go dredge up and reread our old Wayside School books by the wonderful Louis Sachar. Man, those were the loves of my childhood reading life (they're nearly falling apart now). Of course, while reading these hilarious books, I found some quotes that made fine icon material. So, I'm presenting 20 Wayside School quote icons. Most are from Wayside School Gets a Little Stranger, though there are a handful of icons from Sideways Stories and Falling Down. Feel free to use them for anything you like: as an icon, avatar on another website, whatever. Credit's nice but not required. All comments are welcome.

All icons were made with Adobe Photoshop CS2 with minor editing in PSP6.

Besides the Wayside books, the only Louis Sachar I've read is Holes, which was required reading in fifth grade. Oh, and Sixth Grade Secrets! What was it, Pig City and Monkey Town? Now I have to go reread that too....

I'm surprised I never read more by him, especially since I loved what I did read.

From the time I was a student teacher I read at least one of these books to my students every year, and my copy of Falling Down is autographed by Louis Sachar. These are *wonderful*, thank you; I'm taking Miss Zarves and will credit.

Taking Mrs. Zarves. The fact of her existence (or should I say nonexistence) is one of my favorite things about those books. It's creepy in a fascinating way, kind of like time travel.

Same here. :) The whole Allison-Miss Zarves trilogy in Falling Down is one of my favorite parts of the entire series, right up there with the numerous incarnations of Mrs. Gorf.

OMG! I've been reading the Wayside School books with DH at bedtime. (yes, we're weird, but it's fun.) These are awesome.

(One correction, though, for the last one: It's Miss Zarves, not Mrs. Zarves. And I probably wouldn't have noticed except that we just read that chapter last night.)
