I'm not sure if I'm allowed to make requests here, so just shout at me if I can't...

Would anyone famililar with Alan Garner be able to make me an icon saying 'drink if this and take thy fill, for the water falls by the wizard's will'. I've been trying to find a picture online of the actual inscription at Alderly Edge, but no luck.

Of course you're allowed to make requests. I've actually got a separate memory category for them, for inspiration or whatever.

Which book is that a quote from? It'd be either the Weirdstone of Brisingamin, or the Moon of Gomwrath -- right? :\

I might give it a go if it's from one of the books I've read :)

it's definitely one of those. *grin* I'm trying to find my copy to get a description; I think it'd be from Bringsamen, because that's when they first meet the wizard.

Well, you got me to go look and find out that I actually own The Weirdstone of Brisingamen. So I read it again. And I did a bit of web searching, and a bit of Photoshop, and came up with a sort of clumsy offering:

It was a lot of text to include, and I wasn't sure you'd want it animated. Anyway, the image is of the actual carved wizard's face at Alderley Edge. The original is here (http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=8086). A nice page about Alan Garner and Alderley Edge (http://www.daharja.net/alangarner.htm) has pictures of the inscription, but I don't think it could be worked into an icon -- it's just way too worn and blurry and dark.

Thanks for reminding me of Alan Garner! I learned a lot about him I didn't know from this request of yours. Now I must get to the library and take out Moon of Gomrath. :-)

I don't know if you still want an icon of this, since [livejournal.com profile] iconista has provided, but here's my opffering, anyway:

Hope you like

 Yes indeed... Hogfather, actually. Not my favourite, but it has some good quotable bits in it :)
