Dark Tower 6&7 Icons
Oct. 12th, 2004 09:18 pmI saw this community linked from someone else's LJ, and
biichan's Icons inspired me to finally get around to pulling a picture out of The Dark Tower 7 for an icon. Whilst I was doing that, I pulled out a few more pictures. All credit, of course, should go to Darrell Anderson (DT6) and Michael Whelan (DT7). I am just the guy who scanned them. There are 11 in all.

1. From the beginning pages of DT6: Song of Susannah. (All other icons are from DT7)
2. Haylis of Chavis, the Rod.
3. Mordred in spider form. The white blotch on his back is his human face.
4. The sign in front of Cara Laughs
5. The polaroid of the Dark Tower from Joe Collins' house.
6. Skull with the symbol of the Crimson King on it.
7. Picture of the Dark Tower in B&W
8. Picture of the Dark Tower halo'd in color. (Funny thing about this -- it came out that way when I scanned it at 75 DPI. I did not photoshop it in any way)
9. Symbol for the Crimson King, taken from #6 and enlarged.
(I played with this image for about 3 hours to try and get rid of all the different colored pixels so that the background color could be replaced. If the response is good, I'll finish working on it and submit the subsequent icons)
10. #9, cleaned up so that the background can be easily replaced for anyone who wants to change it.
11. #10 with a red background.
Feel free to use them as you wish. I would appreciate a mention for posting the base images ("This is my icon I made using Necroscopic's base image from DT7...") because I may do something with them later on. Add text or whatnot. But the real credit goes to Stephen King for creating the characters/story, and the artists for the great depictions.

And improvable? I had to restrain myself to actually make the reading last more than 2 days.
oops

When I spelled "improvable," I meant "improbable." Ahh! The evil spelling monster strikes again! (I'll probably go back and change that in the post.)

Date: 2004-10-13 03:19 pm (UTC)(Also, I fixed the Tower with the Rainbow haze around it, as I didn't realize that the original posted pciture wasn't cropped fully. Once photobucket updates their system, if should display correctly)

Date: 2004-10-13 03:17 pm (UTC)Just finished it. Made me cry. Books never make me cry! Especially not books with wildly improbable plots that extend well beyond my ability to suspend disbeleif. Maybe it's just following the characters through so many books, only to watch them-- But no spoilers here. 19. Yes. Just that.
